400MW Joint Cycle Gas Turbine

In 2022, the 400MW Joint Cycle Gas Turbine Power Station Project in Asuganj East, Bangladesh, constructed by Power China East Electric Co., completed a 240-hour full-load trial run and officially began power generation.

Situated in the specialized zone of Chittagong, Bangladesh, the project employs globally advanced F-class heavy-duty gas turbines and gas-steam combined cycle technology. Once completed, it is expected to increase Bangladesh’s installed power capacity by approximately 2%, generating over 3.3 billion kWh annually and benefiting around 1.2 million people.

In collaboration with Power China, Wrindu Company provided a comprehensive power testing equipment solution for the Asuganj East Gas Turbine Power Station in Bangladesh. This included equipment such as winding deformation testers, electric megohmmeters, test transformers (3kVA), 60kV DC generators, CT comprehensive characteristic testers, M-type dielectric testers, and SF6 gas leak detectors. Tailored testing equipment was provided based on the specific requirements of the Asuganj East Gas Turbine Power Station to ensure its continuous and reliable operation.

The Asuganj East Gas Turbine Project stands as a significant achievement, representing the company’s secondary development and market implementation based on the successful completion of the Ghorashal Project. In March 2019, with the drilling of the first pile foundation adjacent to the chimney of the Asuganj East Project, the construction of Bangladesh’s largest single-unit capacity gas turbine project officially commenced. At the beginning of the construction, the project adhered to the principle that “accelerating construction is the best way to save costs.” It focused on construction goals, centralized human and mechanical resources, established sound systems for construction, quality, and safety management, built an outstanding construction organization network, responded quickly, and promptly addressed various challenges encountered at the construction site. Additionally, the project continuously optimized construction organization plans detailed key task decompositions, and adjusted organizational strategies based on different stages of on-site construction tasks, ensuring the achievement of major goals through the completion of smaller objectives.

This marks the beginning of a long journey with firm steps. The successful commissioning of the Asuganj East Project once again showcases China’s speed and quality. This power station, embodying the friendship between the two countries, illuminates the banks of the ancient Meghna River with strength and quality, delivering a continuous and stable supply of “Chinese power” to Bangladesh.
