OVERVIEW

The insulating oil kinematic viscosity tester is suitable for determining the kinematic viscosity of liquid petroleum products (Newtonian fluids). This method is based on measuring the time for a specific volume of liquid to flow through a calibrated glass capillary viscometer under the action of gravity under constant temperature conditions. The kinematic viscosity of the measured liquid at that temperature is calculated by multiplying the viscometer capillary constant and the flow time, and the dynamic viscosity at that temperature is determined by multiplying the kinematic viscosity and the density of the liquid at the same temperature.

FAQ

Q: How do you measure kinematic viscosity?

A :Kinematic viscosity is commonly measured by determining the time it takes for a fluid to flow through a capillary tube. This flow time is converted into kinematic viscosity using a calibration constant specific to the tube. Other methods exist, but this is the most widely used approach.

Q :How do you test the kinematic viscosity of oil?

A :The kinematic viscosity of oil is commonly tested using a capillary tube viscometer. The oil is drawn through a glass capillary U-tube by suction, and the time it takes to reach the marked start position is measured. This time is then used to calculate the kinematic viscosity.

Q:What is a kinematic viscosity tester for petroleum products?

A:Based on ASTM D 445, the Kinematic Viscosity Tester measures the kinematic viscosity of petroleum products by timing how long a liquid takes to flow through a calibrated glass capillary viscometer under gravity. This test helps evaluate the flow properties of both transparent and opaque liquids.
